SEAI Community Grants
The SEAI supports a wide range of energy projects across Ireland. These projects are managed by registered project coordinators. For a list of project coordinators please visit this page on the SEAI website.
The grants provided by SEAI are designed to:
- improve energy efficiency of community buildings such as community centres, GAA clubs & libraries.
- reduce energy use and costs in the community.
What projects are eligible for funding?
The SEAI support projects which demonstrate some or all of the following characteristics:
- benefits the community
- focuses on more than one element
- uses a mixture of sustainable solutions
- demonstrates innovation and ambition
- shows the potential energy savings
- demonstrates the ability to deliver the project
What types of measures are supported?
- Building Fabric Upgrades
- Technology and System upgrades
- Integration of Control Systems
- Integration of renewable energy sources
- Domestic Combined Fabric Upgrade
Grant Amount Available
- Maximum grant available is €5,000,000*
- There is no maximum project value
- The SEAI recommends a minimum grant application of €100,000

How to get involved
An application must be fulfilled by a registered project coordinator.
If you are interested in starting or getting involved in a community project, you must contact one of the registered coordinators.
Project Criteria
1. Successful applications must incorporate partnerships with diverse organisations such as:
- Community centres
- Public sector facilities and schools
- GAA clubs
- Retail Outlets
- Factories
- Not-for-profit organisations and charities
- Innovative partnerships are highly encouraged, e.g. collaborations between public & private sectors
- SEAI can assist with partnerships
2. Projects must be completed within 12 months
Applications can be made all year round and works must only commence after a ‘Letter of Offer’ is received.
